Tauranga

We recently travelled up to Tauranga to attend the wedding of our friends Ali
and Alan.
The wedding was held in a house right by the sea – so they had the wedding photos on the beach.
This is to prove that we scrubbed up pretty well.
While we were there, the Tauranga Air Show was taking place. We managed to get quite close to the action without actually paying to get in. In no particular order: an ex air force DC3 that later saw service with the old national domestic airline NAC.
A World War One era French Nieuport 11 bi-plane (confusingly in Italian colours),
a British Sopwith Camel of a similar vintage
and for balance a German model - the Fokker Triplane I think.
On the last morning we went for a gentle stroll up “The Mount”.
There are good views on the way up
and from the top.
Mount Maunganui is one of the best places in New Zealand for surfing. So this one is for Sam – a reminder of what to do when he comes home in March.
The next post will detail what we did on the way back to Wellington.

Also, please tell mama I love her necklace and may need to borrow it while home. :)
