Trelissick Park
Today is ANZAC day and a public holiday so we took the opportunity for a walk this afternoon as the forecast is not good for Sunday. There was quite a good group of us. Here we are at the top of Tinakori Hill
which has good views over the harbour – this shot towards Petone.
From there it was all downhill. There was lots of avian activity. Here is a tui.
Trelissick Park starts in Ngaio and finishes at Kaiwharawhara.

Whitireia Park
Today's walk was a fairly easy stroll around Whitireia Park.
There are good views looking back across Porirua Harbour to Plimmerton.
Jenny was impressed by this pouwhenua which sits on a headland.
The view from the headland looking back along the shore we had come on.
Out to sea, past Mana Island we could just see the South Island.
On the high ground are a couple of medium and long wave radio transmitters used by Radio New Zealand and Radio New Zealand International.
The children are home this weekend so we took the opportunity to go out for a meal at the Thorndon Bistro in the evening.

Moonshine 10Km run
Today a few of us participated in a 10 kilometre event in Upper Hutt. Before the start we looked fit and relaxed.
About 1200 people took part. It was all on the flat and started by going around Trentham Memorial Park. Here is the line behind me soon after the start (I was near the back).
Jane and Noreen looking pretty relaxed some way into the run when they passed me coming back (apologies for being slightly out of focus).
