Trelissick Park

Today is ANZAC day and a public holiday so we took the opportunity for a walk this afternoon as the forecast is not good for Sunday. There was quite a good group of us. Here we are at the top of Tinakori Hill
which has good views over the harbour – this shot towards Petone.
From there it was all downhill. There was lots of avian activity. Here is a tui.
Trelissick Park starts in Ngaio and finishes at Kaiwharawhara.
It contains the Ngaio Gorge and the Johnsonville branch railway line.
The area is named after the first European resident, Captain Edward Daniell, who was born at Trelissick in Cornwall. Here are the lower reaches of the Kaiwharawhara stream, shortly before it discharges into Wellington Harbour.
