The Dance of the Oystercatchers

Oystercatchers are some of my favourite birds to observe on the sea shore. I have posted a few photos over the years, such as this one.
Our friend Leon is an accomplished artist and as a birthday present to myself I commissioned him to paint me a scene featuring elements from this and a couple of other shots I had. Here he is with the finished result which he calls “The Dance of the Oystercatchers”
and it hanging up in the kitchen.
In family news, Sam and Bex have now left Katherine and are having a couple of weeks in Tasmania before returning to New Zealand for their wedding. Before they left Sam took part in a local rugby game held every year between a Kiwi contingent and the locals to celebrate Waitangi Day. His picture made the local paper, The Katherine Times, even if they can’t get the name of our national day correct.
Finally for Jen, here are photos of the tomatoes. We have been getting between five and ten a day. They ripen up in a couple of days after getting to full size, so there are never many red ones on display.
