Yum Cha

Apologies for the lack of posting. The weather has been a bit murky and we haven’t felt much like doing exciting things.

A couple of weeks ago Jenny had her birthday. It is always near the Queens Birthday public holiday but this year they coincided. A local coffee house had a promotion to publicise their new brunch menu (Jenny knows the marketing manager).
This weekend Ali has been visiting from Tauranga. We went out for Yum Cha
with a group of her friends and ate a lot of food.
The bill was $17 each (about £8 or €9) which is incredibly good value although we usually pay less (this time we had several high value seafood dishes like oysters and scallops).
As I said the weather has been very wet and we have had one frost. Nevertheless the garden is still vibrant. Here are the salad greens in the planter box
and the broad beans which I planted three weeks ago are sprouting.
The winter kale is also doing well (two broad bean sprouts behind).
Of course the most exciting thing happening here at the moment is the All Whites stunning performance at the World Cup. [Well, stunning to us, given they are ranked 79th or something and were given no chance by most people.] I have watched the first two games and will watch the third on Friday even if they do occur in our wee small hours. If you are on Facebook check out Jenny’s comments on the games and personalities (I think you will need to be her friend). They are totally unbiased and expressed in a very sober manner (or possibly not!) - definitely entertaining.
