Salzburg
We have come to Bavaria and are staying with our good friends the Kleins. Our sons Sam and Nico were exchange students several years ago. We have kept in touch and have had several visits since then. On Friday we travelled by train
to Salzburg, an ancient Austrian city famous for its culture and being the birthplace of Mozart.
It is a city of parks
and wide open squares.
Open air entertainment abounds, but even the buskers need a rest occasionally!
Across the river, the old town is dominated by the Hohensalzburg Castle
a massive construction begun in the 11th century
from which there are impressive views down over the town.
