Petone Winter Carnival

Last night we went out to Petone for the culmination of their winter carnival. It’s a relatively new annual event held on Petone foreshore. It was a lovely clear evening but got quite cold. Zoe is one of the organisers so we had access to the clubrooms for refreshments and a chance to warm up afterwards.

Apologies for the quality of these pictures – the low light levels made it difficult to get correctly focussed and exposed photos.

The carnival goes all day with lots of activities for young and old. We saw a juggler.
Various fair ground rides were operating
and Jenny gave her impression of being impressed!
The main activity in the evening was a firework display preceeded by he lighting of various fire sculptures which had been constructed during the day.

Then the fireworks were set off from Petone Wharf.
