Cathedral Cove and Purangi
Cathedral Cove is one of the Coromandel’s greatest attractions. There is no road access and it is reached by a 4Km track from Hahei or by sea.
It has a huge sea cavern

which separates two bays.

The track has extensive views over Mercury Bay
and access to two smaller but interesting bays. This is Stingray Bay but I didn’t see any (stingrays that is – they bask in the shallow warm waters).

Purangi is the river at the southern end of Cooks Beach.
Further inland is the Purangi Winery (Link and click on the blob below and to the right of Purangi).
