Southern Spring

Well, not quite - it’s still a fortnight away, but the weekend produced some lovely weather that could pass for early spring and the garden is starting to burst forth from its winter rest.

The other reason for the title (apart from always avoiding alliteration) is that we did the first bit of the Southern Walkway up onto the slopes of Mount Victoria.
This is looking more or less south back over the city. The Basin Reserve is just about dead centre.
On Oriental Bay beach a man was building a cairn. He had some quite big stones balanced seemingly precariously, but they didn’t fall over while we were watching.
Finally to keep in with the southern theme here is a southern black-backed gull (karoro)
